Boustrophedon

As the ox turns: archaic lines ran right, then left, and the letters turned with them.

Archaic inscriptions ran left to right, then turned and ran back — with the letterforms mirrored on the return, because the plough does not lift at the end of a furrow.

A house cut into a disused Bath stone quarry, entered from above.

Slot

A statement or manifesto page — one deliberate moment of strangeness.

Budget

  • Once per site. It is a signature, and a signature repeated is a pattern.
  • Needs at least three lines to read as anything.
  • Never on text the reader must actually absorb quickly.

Restraint is the aesthetic, and it does not survive being applied generously. These limits are the specification, not advice.
