The chariot
The wheel turns exactly as far as the ground it has crossed.
The wheel rotates in true proportion to distance crossed — circumference against pixels, not an arbitrary spin. A short page turns it a few times; a long one, dozens. It is built like a wheel: a tyre outside a felloe, spokes running from the nave to the rim rather than straight through the middle, and a hub with its collar and linchpin.

Reading progress across a long page.
Budget
- One per document.
- Only on pages long enough for progress to mean something.
Restraint is the aesthetic, and it does not survive being applied generously. These limits are the specification, not advice.
