anthemion-nephele

A lit cloud deck, raymarched

A raymarched cloud deck, ported from a standalone WebGL sketch. It is on the shelf rather than in the drop because it fails the drop’s first filter: it is beautiful and it is not unmistakably Greek — the same deck would look at home on any landing page ever built. Calling it classical would cost the drop the one claim it has.

Volumetric cloud raymarched in a single pass: a Kali-set orbit trap for the density field, Beer-Lambert transmittance, a short march toward the sun for self-shadowing, and a Henyey-Greenstein phase term for the bright rim on sun-facing edges. Inside an <anthemion-sky> it takes the page’s own hour — gold and raking at seven, flat and high at noon — through the cascade, with no second clock. Without WebGL it is a gradient sky, and the gradient is on the element itself so it survives having no JavaScript at all.

Integration

<link rel="stylesheet" href="anthemion.css">
<script type="module" src="anthemion.js"></script>

<anthemion-nephele coverage="44" scale="100" altitude="8" tilt="34" zoom="100" drift="100" sun-angle="150" sun-height="25" render="85" place="inline"></anthemion-nephele>

Slot

A full-bleed animated backdrop for a page that wants weather behind it. The visible half of a global light source: pair it with sky and the deck reports the hour every other component is already casting shadows for.
