The Antikythera mechanism
Six cycles geared together, each turning at its own true rate.
Six dials inside a fixed 365-day scale, each turning at the rate of an actual cycle the mechanism computed. Across one Metonic cycle the Metonic dial completes exactly one revolution while the moon completes 235 and the exeligmos barely stirs. The relationships between the hands are the artefact — the ratios are the mechanism's own, not chosen for the look.

Budget
- One per page. Two of these is a watch shop.
- Do not shorten `years` below about 8 or every dial but the fastest sits still and the point is lost.
- Decorative. It reports no value a reader could act on, so it must never be given a progressbar role.
- Never on the same screen as a krater.
Restraint is the aesthetic, and it does not survive being applied generously. These limits are the specification, not advice.
