The krater

A pot is a curve turned about an axis; the wheel does the rest.

Thousands of marks run a single continuous spiral from foot to rim — the path the potter's hand takes, not a scatter over a surface. Scroll is the wheel: the spiral exists only as far as you have read, so the pot rises out of its own foot and turns as it goes. Stop halfway and it is halfway thrown. Nothing is scanned; the silhouette is a curve of revolution, which is one of the few Greek things that is closed-form.

Integration

<script type="module" src="anthemion.js"></script>

<anthemion-krater count="26000" turns="46" weight="56" spin="0" handles></anthemion-krater>

Slot

A statement panel beside long-form text, where scrolling should build something.

Custom properties

  • --cloud-ratio
  • --cloud-ink

Budget

  • One per page, and never two clouds on one screen — they read as a screensaver.
  • It is decorative. The page's real progress indicator is chariot or caduceus, and this must not be labelled as a third.
  • Give it a square or taller box. The form is drawn into the short edge and a letterbox wastes most of it.
  • Keep `weight` low. The density should come from marks overlapping, not from each one being dark.

Restraint is the aesthetic, and it does not survive being applied generously. These limits are the specification, not advice.
