The temenos

Land cut off from ordinary use and dedicated. Inside the boundary, different rules apply.

A section set apart. It does not own a second sun — it offsets itself from whatever hour the page is showing, so a dark band stops being a hardcoded background and becomes evening inside the sanctuary. Move the page's hour and the precinct moves with it, keeping its distance. Its surface grain is governed by the sun rather than set: raking light reveals texture and a noon sun flattens it.

Budget

Never nest one inside another. A precinct inside a precinct is not a precinct, and two grounds compound into an unreadable box.
It needs a sky above it to be worth anything. Without one it falls back to the visitor's clock and the offset means nothing.
Two per page at most. A page that keeps changing register has no register.
Do not fight the grain. It is governed by the hour on purpose — set the ceiling and leave it.

Restraint is the aesthetic, and it does not survive being applied generously. These limits are the specification, not advice.
